The two hours, specially designed, programme begins with a tour of our current exhibitions and/or the permanent collection. This is followed by a half hour informal discussion in the Gallery.
Café and finally workshops where participants get to do their own artwork based on the tour (all materials supplied). Each week a different theme is explored to allow participants to book for more than one afternoon.

AFTER SCHOOL ART CLASSES FROM SEPTEMBER 2008
The art classes will be divided in modules of four weekly sessions and each module caters specifically for an age group. Classes last one hour and draw on the Crawford gallery’s exhibitions. The children are encouraged to look at and discuss the artwork with regard to ideas, materials, and production.
The modules will cover techniques of painting, drawing, collage and construction, which parallel the recently updated primary school art curriculum.
Children’s Art Summer Workshop
The children are encouraged to engage in a range of activities to include sculptural construction, printmaking, painting and drawing and develop a range of their own artwork. Over the course of the week children will develop both an individual and collaborative installation.
Children’s Art Summer Workshop
The project is to make short animations. The workshops will involve painting, drawing, construction, modeling, fabric work, storyboarding, photography, scriptwriting and sound recording. This project is designed to develop children’s skills and ideas by using a variety of art and linguistic processes. The content of the animations will evolve out of themes explored during the making process and from storyboarding workshops where children will work in pairs to animate their characters and develop scripts.

EDUCATION
INITIATIVES
The Crawford Gallery facilitates tours and workshops of the Permanent Collection and the temporary exhibitions, which expose students to the wealth and variety of art on display in the Gallery. Participants engage in themed workshops found in the collection, such as portraiture and Irish landscape, which allow students to identify personally and visually with the work.
Parents can enrol their children in exciting week long programmes for children during the spring, summer and winter breaks. Young people explore a wide range of innovative and artistic activities exploring both traditional and technol
ogical materials led by artists from various art disciplines.
As a public art gallery, the Crawford Gallery plays a fundamental role in disseminating art to the public. By introducing children and adults of all ages to the dialogue of contemporary and historical work, art can be a tool of inclusion, integration, and as well as education.
